Chapel of Saint Spyridon
Saint Spyridon the Wonderworker, Bishop of Trimythous, is one of the most greatly venerated Cypriot Saints. The Church commemorates him on 12 December.
He was born in Cyprus and lived with simplicity, humility and love. From a shepherd of sheep he became Bishop of Trimythous and took part in the First Ecumenical Council at Nicaea in 325. The Church honours him as the Wonderworker.
West of the locality known as “Foinitzin” stands the Chapel of Saint Spyridon, a single-aisled, barrel-vaulted church built in the twenty-first century. It adjoins an older, single-room Latin cemetery chapel, of which the foundations and low sections of the outer walls survive.
