Unlike Episkopi’s stone chapels, the Church of Kalos Poimenos (The Good Shepherd) is first and foremost a vision in progress. Inspired by Christ’s words, “I am the good shepherd… I know my own and my own know me,” a growing community has gathered for vesper services, food, basket drives, and online Bible studies, even before the church’s walls have risen.
Why “Good Shepherd”?
The image of Christ as shepherd captures both protection and sacrificial love. The Kalos Poimenos community hopes to embody that care for all who feel scattered or overlooked in modern life, offering a welcoming spiritual home grounded in Orthodox teaching.
Digital Parish, Physical Future
Through its social media presence, the group streams reflections, organises charity projects, and raises funds for land on which to build a chapel that blends contemporary design with traditional iconography. Every donation, whether a small monthly gift or a one-time contribution, moves the project closer to a permanent worship space on Episkopi’s western edge.

Takeaway: Kalos Poimenos reminds us that the church consists of people gathered around Christ. Long before stone walls rise, a living parish is growing, online, in service projects, and in every heart that answers the Shepherd’s call.
